Goals

Since day one, the goal at VHL besides growing children in Christ, is to be as self-sustaining as possible. VHL does not want to totally rely on U.S.A. church donations. This would be harmful to Vijiji long term, and leaves a sense of being foreign owned. Vijiji desires to be able to support itself and be Kenyan owned and operated. This is possible, and Vijiji has already put into motion some of the necessary steps. VHL is working on opening “The Vine Vocational Training Institute” (TVTI). This facility will allow VHL to generate profit by receiving tuition from enrollment. This will also allow VHL students free training for themselves in the courses that are offered at TVTI. Of course getting these projects started requires donations given specifically for this, or a large one-time gift.

Completed Projects

Our shared vision at VHL is to be a beacon of hope for the surrounding community by fostering a home so full of God’s love for his orphan children that it spills over! God has provided VHL with so many good and beautiful things such as a one story building, van, well, water tower, solar pump, (which was all donated by CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network) in Kenya), a fence around the two acres to allow farming, and a wonderful hard working staff. VHL plans to share all these good and free gifts that God has given to VHL with the community to show that God’s love is for everyone!

The Well

Before this well was built, VHL had to walk several miles a day and pay $30 a month just to have enough water to survive. Thanks to the generosity of CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network), VHL now has more than enough water for the daily needs and has even been able to share with others in the community who are in desperate need.

Waterproof Roof

Before the funds were raised to fix the leaky roof, the children were having to be confined to only a couple of rooms due to the leaky rooms becoming damp, moldy and unsafe to occupy. The money for the roof not only fixed and waterproofed the roof, but also allowed for the rooms to be cleaned of any mold damage.

The Fence

The fence has brought about a safety to the children that has long been desired by the VHL community. Before the fence, VHL experienced reckless drivers speeding by the property, people from the community wondering on to VHL’s property, and no way to truly have a safe containment of the children while they would play outside. The fence has also allowed for the hope of starting a garden and eventually having animals that could help provide food for the children.

Power Lines

Power for VHL was something that was long prayed for and long awaited. For those who followed the VHL journey, you may remember when the power lines were build and then burned down by a lightning fire. By the grace of God, through the fire VHL found out that the power lines were not installed correctly the first time and due to the fire had to be re-installed in a safer manner. Having power has created many sustainable possibilities for VHL. One of these being the computer lab that is in progress with hopes of giving career training to children aging out of the home as well as bringing in funds by providing classes to the community.
